We Who Were the Beautiful

In 1982 three and a half women went on tour with their theatre production of “We Who Were the Beautiful”.  Acrobatics, body puppets, fire-eating, masks, text and mime made this a diverse and a successful theatre experience.   Off Scarlets went on tour, around England and Europe, in an elderly Morris 1000, to theatres, community halls and universities.

Health issues were at the heart of the drama, which explored Europe’s history of witch hunting, splicing in scenes about medication, companionship and power, discovered through admission to the psychiatric ward.

The film has yet to be made …

Here is a taster of what the film might be like. Shell, Sue and Tess – where are you now? – enjoy.
